March 2021 Lance, the guy who lived in Mel's old neighborhood. Creepy RV guy should not make this list.
February 2021 Angela and her beautiful family who are long-term staying on BLM land. It was so nice for Mel to socialize with another adult and for Kate to meet some new friends close to her age. Angela gave us the 411 on the location and all of the people who are regulars there. She told us about the cows and coyotes, and warned us about the cold nights. If BLM had camp hosts, she would be a great one. It was really nice getting to know them.
January 2021 We met so many people on our California to North Carolina trip to move our stationary life items to storage on the East Coast. The people at the Continental Divide trading post in New Mexico; Becky, who works at Golden Corral somewhere in Georgia; many employees at three different Waffle Houses across the South; and other travelers at rest stops. We love meeting new people!!
July 5, 2020 A group of people we saw but did not get to meet. Their story and their photos are here.
A woman in need of help because her car wouldn't start and a man who stopped his car to help her when we flagged them down. See them and the jump here.
Kimberly, her husband and daughter. She rescued us from a soggy, rained-on lunch by letting us share their table under the shelter. We didn't ask for her (or their) photo because her husband looked too angry. (I guessed it was more about the rain ruining their family vacation than his wife saving our food from turning into a soppy mess, but I could be wrong.)
Aaliyah and Charlie- two cute teen girls who were at Aquatica. Charlie rode on the tube ride with Katelyn because it required two people and Mel was too cold to get wet. See them here.
The friendly lifeguard at Aquatica who let Kate and Charlie go on the ride even though they were closing. You can see him in the video here.
July 4, 2020 Sea World Orlando (pre-van build) Luke and Brian - the friendly and sociable guys who were concerned about Katelyn overheating in the sun. See them here.
Jeremiah and his adorable kids. We remember Owen's name because Dad corrected him frequently for pestering his sisters. We shared a float and joked about being a fake family. Arianna- the front desk manager at the Holiday Inn & Suites who went above and beyond with her amazing attitude. By the time we thought to get their photo, we were on a water ride and Mel's cell phone isn't waterproof.
