California I will be completely honest with you, I have never enjoyed living in California (I've done so for a non-continuous 30 years). But, I can say that there are some benefits to the Golden State, namely the weather, the fresh produce, and a variety of natural landscapes. You can enjoy mountainous terrain and snow up north, sunshine and beaches down south, and a wild mix of wine, sea food, culture, history, and business in between.
If you come to explore California in your rig, plan on spending several months - if not a full year- in the state. There's plenty to see and do.
We did not trek the entire state since we basically just wanted to get on our way. Our route was from Chico to the Arizona border. We did, however, take the scenic route, going through the national forests rather than the cities.
If you want to do the same tour we did, here's the link to the VanLife Tour Arizona route. The stops (along with informative links) are listed in order, below. Remember to bring a paper map in case of some electronic issue.
